Hot Run

It was a hot run on Sat.  We had a nice turnout, and we did our loop south along the golf course in Griffiths Park, and by the time we got back to the parking lot, we had gone a bit over 4 miles, did it in less than an hour, and it had climbed to 90 degrees.

It was tough, and we had a few extended walks, but boy, felt good to get out there and work it a bit.

Now next week is the Labor Day weekend, and it will also be the last weekend before the Roadrunners start their training sessions.  I'm not sure how many folks are interested and will be around, but if enough folks are around, I'll do one more warmup training run.

If we do, probably will start earlier, just to avoid some of the potential heat, and let folks enjoy their weekend.  I will send out another reminder mid week.  So figure on coming out by 6:45am and running by 7am. at the LA Zoo.

have a great week,

Walt

Warm up run at the LA Zoo

This coming Sat. Aug. 27, we'll do one more warm up workout before the start of the LA Roadrunners training.  We meet at 7:30am in the LA Zoo parking lot under the C for Camel on the north end of the lot, and start running by 7:45am.

The easiest way to get there is to come up from the south on the 5 freeway and take the LA Zoo exit just as the freeway splits for Pasadena.  Take a right at the fork, then straight into the parking lot.

Coming from the Valley, stay right for LA downtown and exit at Victory Blvd. take a right and a left into the park.  Come around till you see the Zoo parking lot and make a right at the Stop sign.

We'll probably go for about an hour workout.

Time to Get Busy

Greetings,
Here we are, and another year has past. It's time to think about signing up for next year's LA Marathon. As marathons go, there is no telling what this next year will bring....more rain, more heat, who knows, maybe LA will have it's first marathon canceled due to excessive snow and ice.

All I know is that as sick as it may sound, I'm all ready to take on another season of training, sacrificing, sweat, pain and pure fun.  It's like grade school all over again. I can't wait to see what new runners we'll be getting, what new drama will ensue, what new romances and heartbreaks we'll be witnessing, and of course how helpful our "team in therapy" will be for some folks.

So whether you were with us last season or not, or whether you want to "graduate" up to a different group, or you've been gone for a while, this is just a gentle reminder that we'll be starting up again on Sept. 10, 7am at the same place in Venice Beach.

If you want to drop on by and check it out, please do....
I'll be there early,

Walt
